Teaching the curriculum 1 - integrating literacy
This unit is designed to provide pre-service teachers with knowledge of curriculum frameworks, curriculum design and application and evaluation. This knowledge helps establish clear and achievable learning goals and enables planning and documentation of effective student learning. It facilitates teaching within and between learning areas through discipline-connected strategies. This unit presents Indigenous, non-Indigenous and national and global perspectives using the appropriate curriculum referents. Students are encouraged to use their acknowledged world experiences in their application of curriculum knowledge and processes, including curriculum design and evaluation.
Students will apply curriculum knowledge and skills to their intended teaching areas. The assessment tasks are designed to demonstrate effective linking of curriculum guidelines, learning areas, classroom strategies and student learning outcomes.
