Teaching and Learning 3 - Assessment and Reporting
This unit teaches the theory and practice of assessment emphasising how it informs teaching and learning in classrooms. It makes explicit the forms of formative and summative assessment, and additionally it identifies reporting practices in schools. This unit has an associated professional experience of ten days that is spent in a school. The learning outcomes are as follows:
- Demonstrate relevant developing competency/ies in line with NT-Professional standards for graduating teachers
- Know how to assess the learning capabilities of their students and be aware of the factors that can influence their learning.
- Know how learning environments, program design, use of materials and resources, assessment and the structure of activities impact on learning.
- Know how to monitor student’s engagement in learning and begin to maintain records and report on student learning.
- Select, document and implement the approved curriculum to assess student learning effectively, to provide feedback to students and to inform further planning of teaching and learning.
- Use and manage a range of teaching and learning strategies, technologies, activities and resources.
- Graduate teachers will provide meaningful and constructive feedback to students about their learning.
