Addressing the AITSL Standards
The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers provided by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) comprise seven Standards (see the link to the AITSL page above) which outline what teachers should know and be able to do at the four professional career stages of Graduate, Proficient, Highly Accomplished and Lead.
The Standards are interconnected, interdependent and overlapping. The Standards are grouped into three domains of teaching, listed below. In practice, teaching draws on aspects of all three domains. Within each Standard, focus areas provide further illustration of teaching knowledge, practice and professional engagement. A copy of the standards is given below and the tabs above detail the subsections of each Standard.
